A House with New Sense.

This Renovation project named "A House with New Sense" started in Iran - Tehran, Shahrake-e-Gharb- in a land of 660 square meters area, included an interesting and novel experience of designing and implementation.

According to the peculiar potentials of architectural designing beside numerous conducting difficulties, the project encountered some serious repugnancies.

For instance, lack of a consolidated structure, bearing walls and columns around the building, besides necessity for avoid of causing any alteration in upstairs level (because of separate proprietorship), was a part of special challenges in this project. Moreover enclosing of the place with the anchoring walls and small windows on the south side overlooking the picturesque courtyard and the lightening side of building.

The main idea was removal of the south side walls with the intention of getting a beautiful view from the yard and entrance of enough light into circumstance: A prodigious change in the southern shell (i.e. the use of wide window with a black colored profile and a deconstructed black roof), also emphasis to display the exact location of the reconstructed storey (ground floor) that separates it from its upper floor.

Due to the removal of southern bearing walls, and afterwards, designing and implementing of a new part of foundation, the exposed columns and beams which are implemented black-out under the existing beams is the major architectural and structural revolutionization to the building.

In order to control the shear forces, some gusset-plates has been designed and executed so as give structural performance beside aesthetic aspects simultaneously.

These gusset-plates executed in form a triangle with black-out arched hypotenuse and bigger dimensions due to accomplishing mentioned interior exposed beams.

Initially, the subterranean connection was constructed from the outside, and this place has narrow windows from the south side and its useful height was 2.20 meters. As the floor of the yard dropped (about 1 meter), the height of the underground windows rose from 0.6 meters to 1.60 meters.

Also the downfall of the underground floor changed the useful height to 2.60 meters and created a more pleasant architectural space.

One of the other changes might be the removal of access from the outside and the creation of a round-step inside, made of steel sheet and wooden floor step, epoxy-shaped, which finally created a duplex space.

Utilizing white-black colors is due to making contrast between the renovated and untouched parts of this double-deck building such as contrast of black and white, furthermore transubstantiation sense of tedium of the time before rebuilding.

Overall in general, this project has created a higher quality of life in basement and underground spaces.
